Senior FP&A Analyst – Financial Planning & Analysis

About the role
The FP&A Senior Analyst supports AES’s Panama operations by building and maintaining financial and economic models that drive data‑based decisions. This role ensures timely, accurate analysis for budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning, while identifying risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and continuously update financial models for assigned businesses, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategy.
- Support the development of short‑ and long‑term budgets, forecasts and business plans across AES Panama.
- Monitor financial performance and budget execution, identifying variances and key performance drivers.
- Analyze actual vs. forecast vs. budget results and provide clear explanations and recommendations to management.
- Perform scenario analysis, sensitivities and simulations to evaluate performance under different conditions.
- Prepare projected financial statements (income statement, cash flow, balance sheet) and upload data into corporate systems such as SAP BPC.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align financial projections with operational strategies.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual management reports and presentations for senior leadership.
- Contribute to the identification of financial risks and assist in developing mitigation plans.
- Assist with ad‑hoc analyses, strategic initiatives and business case evaluations as required.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or a related field; Master’s (MBA) preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in FP&A or corporate finance.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
- Experience with financial planning systems such as SAP BPC is a plus.
- Familiarity with data‑visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) is a plus.
- Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present insights to non‑financial stakeholders.
