Senior Firmware Engineer (US Only)

About the role

A2e Technologies is hiring a Senior Firmware Engineer (Embedded Software/Firmware) for space-based systems, based onsite in Virginia with a hybrid workplace. The position is listed as a contract with possible permanent conversion, starting as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to firmware architecture and implementation for space-based systems
• Run the full firmware development lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, coding, simulation, verification and validation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on interfaces, design issues and system integration
• Debug in the lab, run hardware-in-the-loop tests and perform system-level validation with diagnostic tools and protocols
• Apply high-reliability and space-grade techniques such as fault tolerance and radiation mitigation
• Contribute to documentation, design reviews and risk identification throughout the product lifecycle

Required profile

• 7+ years of relevant experience
• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience developing firmware, VHDL (RTL) and SystemVerilog (testing)
• Experience writing C and C++ for microcontrollers
• Experience with Xilinx, Microchip and Lattice
• Experience building test benches, running simulations and reading schematics
• Experience with high-speed serial links (JESD204B/C, Ethernet, SpaceWire) and standard peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, LVDS)
• Experience with GitHub, CI/CD for FPGA flows, code reviews, automated linting, synthesis, regression testing, timing closure, bitstream generation and release tagging
• Experience with Python for build and test automation and data analysis
