Senior Fire Alarm Technician

About the role

RCM Fire, a Guardian Fire Services Company, is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Alarm Technician to install, upgrade, and maintain fire alarm systems across residential, commercial, and industrial sites in California. The role combines hands‑on technical work with daily communication to ensure projects stay on schedule and meet code requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and service fire alarm components including control panels, wiring, and sensors.
• Upgrade outdated systems with new technology to improve detection capabilities.
• Perform basic system programming as delegated on a job‑by‑job basis.
• Coordinate daily with the Department Superintendent, providing status updates at the end of each service call.
• Collaborate with electricians, building managers, subcontractors, and fire safety inspectors to ensure code compliance and seamless project execution.

Required profile

• 3‑5+ years of experience installing, maintaining, or repairing fire alarm systems, preferably with lead experience.
• State Fire Alarm technician certification (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain it within six months.
• Physical ability to work on ladders, man‑lifts, harnesses, in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lb.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to multiple job sites.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, electrical wiring, and low‑voltage circuitry.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and system manuals.
• Familiarity with NFPA 72, NEC, and IBC fire safety codes.
• System programming for fire alarm electronics.
• Certification from NICET is highly preferred.
