Senior Field Service Technician (Remote)

About the role

ABB is hiring a Senior Field Service Technician in Indianapolis, working remotely. The role reports to the Service Manager and involves guiding the work group to meet its objectives while performing installation, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance on electrical distribution equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out hands-on execution of projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design and repair of power delivery equipment such as transformers, switchgear, OCBs, circuit breakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, relays and power management control systems.
• Lead outages with other field engineers, technicians and contractors, including project management and acting as lead site engineer or site project manager.
• Perform administrative tasks such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, customer reports, timesheets and expense sheets.
• Plan, prepare and instruct internal and external training programs to share field engineering and product knowledge.

Required profile

• High school diploma and 8 years of related engineering or field experience; additional formal education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Willingness to travel up to an estimated 75% of the time.
• Work authorization to work for ABB in the US.
• Preferred: experience repairing and refurbishing LV and MV circuit breakers.

Required skills

• Technical skills in testing, commissioning, startup and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines are preferred.
