Senior Field Service Engineer

About the role

Countable Labs is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to be the primary technical contact for customers using the Countable PCR platform. You will travel to laboratories, install and qualify new systems, perform maintenance, and troubleshoot both Countable and third‑party equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, set up, and qualify Countable PCR units and associated equipment (centrifuges, rotors, thermal cyclers) on‑site.
• Execute scheduled preventative maintenance visits, calibrations, and performance checks.
• Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and mechanical issues, escalating to engineering when needed.
• Provide first‑line technical support via phone or email and perform remote troubleshooting.
• Complete service reports, calibration records, and maintenance logs in compliance with GMP/ISO standards.
• Manage spare‑part inventory, track usage in the ERP/CRM system, and coordinate parts orders.
• Deliver hands‑on training to lab staff on instrument operation and basic troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent military/technical training.
• 5+ years of field service experience with biomedical or laboratory instrumentation.
• Physical ability to lift 75‑150 lb and work in varied lab environments.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel 75‑80 % of the time, including overnight trips.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools, multimeters, and diagnostic software.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical service manuals.
• Hands‑on familiarity with centrifuges and thermal cyclers.
• Experience using CRM or field‑service management tools for asset tracking.
