About the role

The Center for Educational Data Science and Innovation (EDSI) at the University of Maryland seeks a Senior Faculty Specialist to lead data‑driven research that improves educational practice. This position blends advanced data science, AI, and education research to create equitable, effective learning solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee collection, management, and analysis of large, multi‑source educational datasets, including classroom recordings and administrative records.
• Design and execute experimental studies, applying causal inference and machine‑learning methods.
• Collaborate with faculty, software developers, and external partners to translate research findings into actionable tools and products.
• Explore and integrate generative AI techniques to enhance research workflows and educational interventions.
• Lead project management activities, ensuring timely delivery of research milestones.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Education, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience managing large datasets and conducting advanced analyses.
• Proven ability to work in interdisciplinary research or academic environments.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for improving education through data‑driven insights.
