Senior Engineering Manager – Panel Engineering (UL 508A)

About the role

WEG is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Panel Engineering function responsible for UL 508A listed enclosed panels and engineered panel assemblies. The role ensures technical design integrity, compliance with codes and standards, and provides day‑to‑day leadership for a team of panel design engineers and drafters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of UL 508A listed panels across all product lines.
• Own compliance with UL 508A, NEC/NFPA 70, NEMA and IEC standards; act as primary contact for UL field inspections.
• Review and approve drawings, bills of material, wiring diagrams and control schematics.
• Recruit, hire, train and develop panel design engineers and designers/drafters.
• Define competency requirements and run technical training programs.
• Balance workload, assign projects and allocate resources based on skill set.
• Partner with Sales, OEM and Channel teams on quoting custom panel designs.
• Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues such as SCCR, coordination studies and layout constraints.
• Manage engineering change, drawing revision control and documentation within PLM/ERP systems.
• Coordinate with Production to improve constructability, cost and lead‑time.
• Establish KPIs for engineering throughput, drawing quality and on‑time release.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time and rework.
• Represent Engineering in customer technical reviews and internal planning sessions.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience managing a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Strong background in electrical panel design and UL 508A compliance.
• Ability to recruit, develop and retain technical talent.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills across Sales, Operations and Quality.
• Track record of driving process improvements and meeting engineering KPIs.
