Senior Director, Employee Communications

About the role

Zillow is seeking a Senior Director of Employee Communications to shape how the company informs and engages its roughly 8,000 global employees. This remote position will define the internal communication strategy, ensuring messages are clear, authentic, and aligned with business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own the employee communications framework, governance, and operating model for a distributed workforce.
• Partner with senior leaders to craft, coach, and ghostwrite communications that resonate.
• Lead all‑hands meetings and major internal announcements, coordinating with Legal, HR, and Finance.
• Build a leadership communications program with tools, frameworks, and coaching for consistent messaging.
• Design channel strategy across intranet, newsletters, Slack, video, and executive cascades.
• Implement measurement practices beyond open rates to gauge impact and understanding.
• Identify communication gaps early and propose solutions.
• Explore AI applications to enhance team efficiency.
• Manage and grow a small, high‑performing communications team.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience leading internal or employee communications in a large, distributed organization.
• Strong partnership skills with senior executives and ability to influence messaging.
• Track record of building scalable communication frameworks and measurement systems.
• Experience managing a communications team and fostering high performance.
