Senior Database Platform Engineer (Oracle)

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Database Platform Engineer with deep Oracle expertise to lead the design, implementation and operation of its global database platforms. The role combines database engineering with modern platform practices to ensure secure, scalable and highly available data services for critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, engineer, implement and support enterprise Oracle database platforms across Mastercard’s global environment.
• Define and enforce database engineering standards, governance and operational procedures.
• Drive automation initiatives using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines and configuration management to improve consistency and efficiency.
• Build highly available, resilient and secure database infrastructure solutions.
• Develop automation for provisioning, deployment, patching, upgrades, monitoring and recovery.
• Collaborate with architecture, product, security and engineering teams to align database services with business requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior‑level database platform engineering, preferably with Oracle.
• Strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation and modern DevOps practices.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives, establish standards and mentor engineering teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a focus on reliability, security and scalability.

Required skills

• Oracle Database administration and performance tuning.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• CI/CD pipeline integration and automation scripting.
• Monitoring, alerting and recovery tooling.
• Security and compliance best practices for database environments.
