Senior Data Scientist – Infrastructure Availability

About the role

Netflix is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to focus on infrastructure availability. You will join a cross‑functional data team that partners with engineering groups to build metrics, develop analytical tools, and provide data‑driven recommendations that improve the reliability of our global streaming platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement metrics that quantify availability, reliability, and performance of Netflix’s infrastructure stack.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, and Software Engineers to productionize system‑level metrics and dashboards.
• Conduct root‑cause and causal‑inference analyses of availability incidents and propose remediation strategies.
• Share findings with the broader analytics community to increase visibility of infrastructure health.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing metrics and measurement frameworks for large, distributed systems or platforms.
• Strong communication skills, able to convey technical insights to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous environments with minimal supervision.
• Product‑oriented mindset with the ability to translate partner needs into actionable data solutions.

Required skills

• Python (or another analytics scripting language).
• SQL for data extraction and transformation.
• Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools for building ETL pipelines.
