Senior Data Engineer – Data Platforms

About the role

Mastercard Foundry is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to own and evolve data platforms that enable advanced analytics, machine learning and business insights. The role is hybrid, based in O’Fallon, MO, with three days onsite per week.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms and pipelines that support analytics, machine learning and business insights.
• Develop large‑scale batch and streaming pipelines using modern distributed processing frameworks such as Databricks and Spark.
• Implement workflow orchestration and automation to ensure reliable data movement.
• Integrate data from multiple sources to create high‑quality, accessible datasets for stakeholders.
• Build and maintain data lake and data warehousing solutions for diverse analytical use cases.
• Define scalable data models and database solutions that ensure performance and integrity.
• Lead technical design discussions, own end‑to‑end delivery across the SDLC and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role with strong knowledge of modern data architectures.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Business) or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences, and work collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

Required skills

• SQL and query optimization for large‑scale data processing.
• Microsoft SQL Server and related relational database technologies.
• ETL/ELT pipeline design and implementation.
• Distributed data processing frameworks – Databricks, Apache Spark.
• Data lake and data warehousing concepts.
• Workflow orchestration tools for automated data pipelines.
• Cloud platforms – AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Event‑driven or streaming architecture experience.

What we offer

• Competitive base salary ranging from $115,000 to $184,000 USD per year, with potential annual bonus.
