Senior Counsel, Privacy - Blockchain & Digital Assets

About the role

Mastercard is seeking an experienced privacy lawyer to join its Blockchain & Digital Assets team. Based in Purchase, New York, the Senior Counsel, Privacy will guide the company’s emerging digital‑asset ecosystem—covering blockchain, crypto payments, stablecoins and related solutions—through a privacy and data‑protection lens.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze payment, digital‑asset, blockchain, stablecoin and fraud technology solutions for compliance with global privacy and data‑protection laws.
• Partner with product, compliance, regulatory, security and legal stakeholders to embed privacy requirements into product design and integration processes.
• Provide hands‑on privacy advice throughout the product lifecycle, from development through launch and ongoing operation.
• Support the integration and operation of BVNK and other digital‑asset initiatives, ensuring readiness for regulatory scrutiny.
• Monitor evolving privacy, cyber and data‑related regulations and advise on necessary policy or procedural adjustments.

Required profile

• Qualified attorney with substantial experience in privacy, data‑protection and technology law.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and act tactically in fast‑moving tech environments.
• Practical, intellectually curious and comfortable delivering hands‑on legal guidance.
• Willingness to work onsite in Purchase, NY and report to the Senior Managing Counsel.

Required skills

• Understanding of blockchain, digital assets, crypto payments and stablecoin ecosystems.
• Ability to assess technology solutions against legal requirements.
