Senior Cost Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join a global cost accounting team supporting multiple manufacturing sites. The role is hybrid, with primary onsite work in either Richmond, VA or LaPlace, LA, and includes regular travel between locations and to other plants.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary cost and inventory accounting resource for assigned manufacturing facilities.
• Maintain standard costs, analyze material, labor, overhead, yield and production variances.
• Monitor manufacturing costs, identify trends and recommend improvements.
• Perform inventory reconciliations, support cycle counts, and investigate discrepancies.
• Partner with operations to resolve root‑cause issues and enhance inventory accuracy and controls.
• Act as finance liaison for fixed‑asset activities, supporting acquisitions, capital projects, and SOX compliance.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and analysis for month‑end, quarterly and annual close.
• Provide insights on inventory valuation, working capital and manufacturing performance.

Required profile

• 5+ years of cost accounting or related finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, inventory accounting and fixed‑asset principles.
• Ability to partner with plant leadership and cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% and work onsite at the assigned location.
