Senior Computer and Information Systems Engineer Specialist

About the role

The Senior Computer and Information Systems Engineer Specialist leads the design, implementation, and optimization of complex IT systems supporting defense‑related operations. This advanced position requires deep technical expertise, cybersecurity leadership, and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, design, and deploy hardware, software, and network infrastructure in line with DoD standards such as DISA STIGs and RMF.
• Monitor and optimize system performance using tools like Splunk, SolarWinds, and SIEM platforms to ensure high availability and scalability.
• Manage virtualized and cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) with secure, efficient operations.
• Lead cybersecurity initiatives, including vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, incident response, and compliance with NIST 800‑53, CMMC, and RMF.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid‑level staff and act as escalation point for complex issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in IT systems engineering, administration, or related roles.
• Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

• Splunk, SolarWinds, Nessus, ACAS, SCAP scanning.
• AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, VMware, Hyper‑V.
• Windows Domain services (GPO, DCs, DNS, DHCP), Red Hat Linux patching/hardening.
• Puppet, Ansible, PowerShell, Python, Bash scripting.
• DoD cybersecurity frameworks: RMF, NIST 800‑53, CMMC, DISA STIGs.
