Senior Cloud Network Architect – Tactical Hybrid & Zero Trust

About the role

The Senior Cloud Network Architect will lead the design, integration, and sustainment of hybrid cloud and tactical network solutions for DoD communications. This remote position supports the convergence of enterprise cloud, edge computing, and deployed tactical networks while ensuring security, resilience, and interoperability.

Key responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end hybrid cloud architectures that integrate enterprise, edge, and tactical environments.
• Translate Operational Needs Statements, Capability Production Documents, and stakeholder requirements into scalable cloud‑enabled network solutions.
• Develop architectures aligned with Army tactical network baselines (WIN‑T, T2C2, NGC2) and modernisation initiatives.
• Implement cloud networking across AWS and Azure (VPC/VNET, Transit Gateway, Virtual WAN, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute).
• Architect SDN and network‑virtualisation solutions such as VMware NSX and Cisco ACI.
• Integrate RF, SATCOM, and terrestrial transport systems into hybrid cloud‑enabled designs.
• Lead Zero Trust Architecture implementation, including segmentation and identity‑based access.
• Ensure compliance with RMF, DISA STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
• Provide technical documentation, lab integration oversight, and performance validation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 10‑15+ years of experience in network engineering, architecture, or systems integration.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
• Experience supporting Army PEO C3T / C5ISR / DEVCOM programs is a plus.

Required skills

• AWS and Azure cloud networking (VPC, VNET, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute).
• SDN and network‑virtualisation (VMware NSX, Cisco ACI).
• Routing and switching protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS‑IS.
• Overlay/underlay technologies: VXLAN, SD‑WAN, MPLS.
• Zero Trust Architecture, RMF, DISA STIG compliance.
• Automation/scripting: Terraform, Ansible, Python.
• Certifications: CCNP/CCIE, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Network Engineer, Security+, CISSP, CASP+.
