Senior Cloud Engineer (GovCloud / FedRAMP)
aikidosecurity · Boston
Job description
About the role
Aikido, a developer-first security platform founded in 2022, is hiring a Senior Cloud Engineer in Boston to build and operate the cloud systems behind its FedRAMP environment. The role sits at the boundary between software and infrastructure: adapting the platform for AWS GovCloud, building automation and services, improving reliability and troubleshooting real product issues. It suits a general-purpose engineer with about 5-7 years of experience who writes code and understands production cloud platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Build, maintain and operate services and infrastructure for the U.S. public sector cloud environment.
- Write production-quality code in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go or similar languages.
- Maintain infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation or comparable tools.
- Work with AWS services and cloud-native systems, with AWS GovCloud experience especially useful.
- Understand and improve multi-tenant SaaS systems, including their architecture, security, reliability and operational needs.
- Debug issues across application code, infrastructure, deployments and integrations using logs, metrics, traces and cloud tooling.
- Use command-line and developer tools, including AWS CLI, Git, CI/CD systems and AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor.
- Explore agentic systems and automation, and take part in production operations, incident response and deployments.
- Document systems and operational procedures.
Required profile
- Around 5-7 years of relevant experience, or equivalent demonstrated ability.
- Strong coding ability in at least one of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or Go.
- Practical experience building or operating infrastructure on AWS; GCP or Azure experience is also valuable.
- Understanding of cloud networking, IAM, compute, storage, databases and monitoring.
- Familiarity with production SaaS architecture, ideally multi-tenant.
- Track record of debugging and problem-solving, and comfort working hands-on in production.
- Able to work independently and collaborate with a distributed engineering team.
- U.S. citizenship is required for access to the FedRAMP environment.
Nice to have
- AWS GovCloud, FedRAMP or regulated cloud experience.
- Kubernetes, containers and service-oriented architectures.
- CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability and incident response.
- Security engineering, cloud security or compliance-driven operations.
- AI coding assistants and agentic workflows.
- Experience with multiple cloud providers.
What we offer
- Short decision lines, big ownership and fast delivery.
- Top-tier tech pay and equity.
- Flexibility in working hours and an open, informal atmosphere.
