Senior Buyer - Automotive Purchasing

About the role

The Senior Buyer is part of Adient's Operational Purchasing team in Plymouth, Michigan. The role covers program launches, sourcing parts and tooling, and represents purchasing in multifunctional program reviews.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure purchasing deliverables meet program timing and budget, and support flawless program launches
• Negotiate product changes, prepare RFQs and negotiate and source parts and tooling
• Support VAVE activities, BOM and sourcing tracking, and technical feasibility reviews
• Represent purchasing in multifunctional program reviews
• Work with Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations and Finance, influencing without direct authority

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of automotive purchasing experience; soft trim or metals component experience desired
• Clear understanding of supplier terms and conditions and ability to negotiate tactics, techniques and strategies
• Ability to evaluate cost breakdowns, analyze data, lead negotiations and communicate complex issues to management
• Works well in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities; some travel may be required
