Senior Business Intelligence Specialist

About the role

The Senior Business Intelligence Specialist will lead BI and data analysis for a Blanket Purchase Agreement delivering Enterprise Knowledge Management services to a U.S. Combatant Command at MacDill Air Force Base. The role focuses on building authoritative visual products, data governance, and analytics frameworks to support rapid decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement BI service offerings, data warehouses, and operational data stores using Power BI and best‑practice architectures.
• Translate leadership questions into analytic requirements, define KPIs, and deliver decision‑support dashboards aligned to battle rhythm.
• Establish data quality, governance, metadata, refresh schedules, and access controls for all analytics solutions.
• Model enterprise data flows, build pipelines from authoritative sources, and ensure compliance with DoD KM directives.
• Leverage AI/ML features within Power BI to identify trends, anomalies, and predictive insights.
• Provide documentation, training, and mentorship to junior analysts and ensure adoption of BI tools.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen with active Top Secret clearance and eligibility for SCI (SSBI).
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 8 years of BI/data analytics experience, including 5 years delivering enterprise‑scale Power BI solutions.
• Proven ability to define KPIs with senior stakeholders and translate decision questions into analytic requirements.

Required skills

• Power BI (including DAX, row‑level security, performance tuning).
• SQL and data modeling for data warehouses/operational data stores.
• Data pipeline development and integration from authoritative sources.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or comparable enterprise data platforms.
• AI/ML capabilities within Power BI.
• Familiarity with DoD data governance principles.
