Senior Business Banking Specialist

About the role

Associated Bank is looking for a Senior Business Banking Specialist to provide advanced administrative and relationship support to its Commercial Banking team. The role covers loan closing and relationship management, including loan preparation, review, documentation and funding, and deposit support on complex transactions. It may back up the Commercial Relationship Specialist Lead, provide supervision and project management, and may involve training team members.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate loan documentation: order due diligence documents, review loan documents with the deal team, close loans with clients and work with Commercial Loan Services and outside counsel.
• Maintain client portfolios in line with legal documentation and compliance guidelines, including complex loan transactions.
• Support the life of each loan using online bank systems, process daily transactions, analyse collateral and financial reports, and resolve discrepancies with clients.
• Handle client and prospect correspondence, act as liaison between operations, support and the Commercial Banking teams, and refer clients to business partners.
• Work with clients on fraud, overdrafts and wire issues, and provide backup to other team members.
• Ensure portfolio administration and risk management comply with Associated Banc-Corp credit policy, commercial and regulatory guidelines, and attend or help lead training sessions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business (required).
• Bachelor's degree in Finance (required).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required).
• 4-7 years of commercial banking support experience with complex loan closings and documentation review.
• Knowledge of commercial banking products, services, procedures and practices.
• Preferred: 6-8 years of attorney-prepared loan documentation review, administration, monitoring and closing experience.

Required skills

• Internal banking systems: Ambit Commercial Lending System, CoreBank, SalesPro and Stucky (or similar).
