Senior Bioanalytical Scientist – Small Molecule Programs

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Bioanalytical Scientist (Sr. Associate I) to lead the bioanalytical strategy for small‑molecule discovery, preclinical, and early clinical programs. The role is based on‑site in Durham, NC and serves as the scientific interface with internal teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive bioanalytical strategy across discovery, preclinical, and early clinical stages.
• Provide expert input on study design, method selection, data interpretation, and regulatory expectations.
• Develop and implement LC‑MS/MS‑based quantitative methods for various biological matrices.
• Apply advanced analytical and separation techniques to address exposure, metabolism, stability, and biotransformation questions.
• Identify, evaluate, and implement new technologies and workflows to improve efficiency and data quality.
• Author and review bioanalytical sections of INDs, regulatory submissions, patents, and publications.
• Represent bioanalysis on cross‑functional project teams and communicate data to senior leadership and collaborators.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and documentation in line with GLP/GCP standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, infrastructure, and resource planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant bioanalytical experience; 5+ years preferred.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Experience working in regulated environments (GLP/GCP).
