Senior Associate – Commercial Litigation (Title IX & Education)

About the role

Offit Kurman is seeking a Senior Associate or Counsel to join its Commercial Litigation Group in New York. The attorney will represent students, faculty, and other clients in high‑profile Title IX, education, civil‑rights, defamation, and complex litigation matters nationwide.

Key responsibilities

• Assist student, faculty, K‑12 and university clients with disciplinary, Title IX, academic misconduct, and special‑education matters.
• Handle civil‑rights, defamation, and related litigation, drafting pleadings, motions, briefs and memoranda.
• Manage discovery, including electronic discovery, and conduct document and ESI review in state and federal cases.
• Conduct legal research, develop litigation strategies, and represent clients in campus proceedings, mediations, and court appearances.
• Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to deliver comprehensive client service while maintaining strong client relationships.

Required profile

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar (or ability to obtain promptly).
• 5+ years of litigation experience with senior‑associate or counsel‑level responsibility.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to independently manage matters while working collaboratively in a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
