Senior Android Software Engineer

About the role

Beta Bionics is seeking a Senior Android Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain high‑quality Android applications that integrate with its bionic pancreas medical device ecosystem. The role is on‑site in San Diego and works at the intersection of mobile software, connected medical devices, and patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and the Android SDK.
• Own architecture and implementation of complex features, emphasizing reliability, performance, security, and testability.
• Implement Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication and other protocols to exchange data with medical hardware.
• Collaborate with embedded, cloud, systems, cybersecurity, quality, regulatory, product, and clinical teams.
• Produce technical documentation, conduct design and code reviews, and support regulatory submissions.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including production Android apps.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of modern Android architecture, Jetpack libraries, Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, and dependency injection.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and Git‑based workflows.
