Senior Analyst, Indirect Tax

About the role

Rivian is seeking a Senior Analyst, Indirect Tax to build and scale a technology‑forward indirect tax function that supports rapid growth across products, channels, and geographies. The role sits at the intersection of finance, process design, digital enablement, and AI‑enabled tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Own recurring indirect tax compliance for assigned jurisdictions, preparing, reviewing, and filing monthly, quarterly, and annual returns (e.g., US sales and use tax, Canadian GST/HST/PST, personal property tax).
• Design and execute scalable tax compliance and accounting processes to support new products, channels, states, and countries.
• Analyze large tax data sets to surface trends, risks, and savings opportunities that influence margins and cash flow.
• Apply tax engines, ERP integrations, workflow automation, and AI tools to streamline tax return preparation, reconciliations, invoice reviews, and exception handling.
• Partner with Procurement, Accounting, Operations, and external advisors to embed tax considerations into product and contract design.
• Strengthen documentation, audit support, and continuous improvement to ensure a transparent, well‑controlled tax environment.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in indirect tax compliance and accounting.
• Proven ability to work across Finance, Tax Transformation, IT, and Operations teams.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience turning tax data into actionable business decisions.
