About the role

The Cancer Support Services Department at the University of Miami seeks a Senior Acupuncturist to provide holistic, patient‑centered care. The role focuses on using acupuncture and herbal medicine to improve overall well‑being and manage a range of emotional, mental, and physical conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including lifestyle, diet, health history, and symptoms.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using needle insertion at specific acupuncture points.
• Administer treatments over periods ranging from weeks to months, adjusting based on patient response.
• Maintain strict safety, infection control, and quality standards throughout all procedures.
• Discuss treatment options, preventative measures, and progress with patients, documenting all care plans and outcomes.
• Dispense herbal formulas, providing dosage instructions, duration, and potential side‑effects.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Licensed Acupuncture Physician (L.Ac. or AP) in Florida.
• Minimum two years of professional acupuncture experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Commitment to the university’s core values and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
