Senior Accountant (NetSuite, CPA Required)
Accrete · New York
Job description
About the role
Accrete, a company building AI knowledge-engine products, is looking for a hands-on, process-oriented Senior Accountant in Lower Manhattan (about 4 days per week in the office). Reporting to the Controller, the role oversees core accounting activities while driving the development, enhancement and standardization of accounting processes and systems. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with hands-on ERP expertise, especially NetSuite, and understands how transactions flow across systems.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting: general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and expense accounting, ensuring transactions are recorded correctly under U.S. GAAP.
- Improve month-end close procedures, investigate variances, and assist with monthly financial statements, management reports, external audits and tax compliance.
- Own the end-to-end accounts payable process, from invoice intake and approvals in Rippling through payment processing, NetSuite synchronization and GL posting, including resolving failed synchronizations and coding discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain standardized procedures and controls for invoice processing, approval routing, payment execution, reconciliation and period-end cut-off.
- Act as a hands-on NetSuite resource, supporting system functionality, reporting, account mapping and configurations, and helping with integrations, UAT, process redesign and automation.
- Design and implement improved workflows, close checklists and process documentation, and work with the Controller to strengthen internal controls and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with HR, operations and other stakeholders, lead process improvement initiatives, guide and train accounting team members, and escalate complex issues to the Controller.
Required profile
- CPA required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a technology, SaaS or fast-growing business, with at least 4 years in public accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop and improve accounting workflows and cross-system processes.
Required skills
- Strong hands-on NetSuite experience (general ledger, reconciliations, reporting, transaction workflows).
- Experience with Rippling or similar payroll, spend management, accounts payable and expense platforms.
- Experience managing accounts payable, including invoicing, approvals, payments, reconciliations and vendor account maintenance.
- Understanding of transaction flows, system integrations, data mapping and general ledger impacts.
