Senior Accountant – Corporate Accounting

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join Tesla’s Corporate Accounting team. The role supports month‑end close, financial reporting and internal‑control activities across multiple accounting areas.

Key responsibilities

• Record financial transactions accurately in line with GAAP, SOX and Tesla accounting policies.
• Analyze account activity, reconcile balances for investments, goodwill, AP, accrued expenses, long‑term debt, other assets/liabilities, and SG&A/R&D.
• Identify and resolve accounting issues independently and collaborate with Technical Accounting for complex treatments.
• Create and maintain metrics and analyses to provide real‑time visibility into accounting trends.
• Drive automation and process simplification by working with IT to develop and test automated solutions.
• Support SOX walkthroughs, internal‑control testing and interaction with auditors to strengthen the control environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent; CPA preferred.
• 3‑5 years of relevant experience, including public accounting.
• Strong ability to multitask, prioritize and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting accounting issues to all management levels.
• Flexibility to work non‑standard hours during month‑end close.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• SQL or database querying experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance.
