Security Specialist – Federal Personnel Security

About the role

The Security Specialist provides comprehensive security support for the National Defense University, covering personnel, information, physical, and SCIF security programs. The role ensures compliance with DoD, DCSA, and Intelligence Community policies while supporting federal clients nationwide.

Key responsibilities

• Manage personnel security processes, including background investigations, clearance eligibility, and SCI indoctrinations.
• Prepare and submit visit clearance certifications, SCI visit requests, and maintain fingerprinting records via SWFT.
• Maintain security records in DISS, NBIS, and other authorized databases.
• Support physical security programs, access control, badge management, and SCIF accreditation.
• Assist information security functions, including COMSEC material accountability and Two‑Person Integrity requirements.
• Coordinate foreign visit processing, maintain FVS accounts, and draft related security documentation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least 3 years of relevant security experience.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship.
• Strong administrative, organizational, and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using security management systems such as DISS, NBIS, SWFT, and FVS.
• Knowledge of DoD, DCSA, COMSEC, and Intelligence Community security policies.
• Ability to process security clearances, background investigations, and classified access authorizations.
