Security Officer I - Supply Chain Facility

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Security Officer I for its Cherokee Distribution Center, in the Security department. The officer performs high-level supply chain facility security duties to protect employees, guests, assets and the company's reputation, reporting to the Assistant Director and Manager of Supply Chain Security.

Key responsibilities

• Manage security operations posts at employee, executive, visitor and receiving entrances, keeping ingress and egress safe and orderly.
• Maintain safe entry to the supply chain buildings, granting access only to authorized employees and approved guests.
• Monitor and respond to activations of the electronic security system, fire detection equipment and emergency distress calls.
• Carry out routine daily, weekly, monthly and annual inspections of safety and security equipment and report them.
• Monitor CCTV cameras and respond to issues as they arise.
• Lead responses to security, medical, weather-related and other critical incidents, maintaining competency in emergency medical response protocols.
• Prepare and submit activity, incident and situation reports, and keep clear shift and duty logs.
• Take part in security meetings, training and continuing education.
• Secondary duties include assisting with the transfer of mail, money or other sensitive items between facilities and other special projects.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; military, law enforcement or security experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license with no restrictions.
• Must pass a criminal background check annually and be trained and certified in CPR and AED use.
• Ability to be trained in First Aid, O.C. Spray, use of force and de-escalation, and to complete the Field Training Program.
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 pounds and carry objects up to 50 pounds frequently, and to perform medium to sedentary work.
• Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of armed security, law enforcement or extensive military firearms experience preferred.
