Seasonal Sales Associate - Retail

About the role

The Greenbrier is hiring seasonal Sales Associates for its retail department in White Sulphur Springs. Associates provide excellent guest service and meet monthly sales goals. Shifts are 8 hours long, typically 9am to 9pm or 10am to 11pm, with flexible hours, weekend and holiday availability, and possible changes for special events.

Key responsibilities

• Acknowledge guests warmly within 30 seconds of entering the shop, anticipate their needs and build rapport through listening and open-ended questions.
• Convey enthusiasm, suggest items that fit guest needs and explain their features and benefits.
• Achieve hourly and monthly sales goals and become an expert on the merchandise.
• Keep the shop attractively merchandised, well stocked and tidy, following the professional dress code.
• Operate the Point of Sale system and handle cash, room charges and credit cards.
• Work as part of a team, take initiative without supervision and adapt to change, performing other duties as needed.

Required profile

• At least 6-12 months of sales experience; high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and follow instructions, and to communicate clearly with guests, colleagues and management, including on the telephone.
• Good listener, detail-oriented, organized and able to stand for 8 hours and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and to take direction from retail assistant managers, managers and directors.

Required skills

• Use of the Greenbrier Point of Sale Retail system and basic computer skills.
• Basic math functions and use of a calculator, including calculating percentages.
