Scraper Operator – Heavy Civil Construction

About the role

HEI, a leading heavy civil construction firm, is seeking an experienced Scraper Operator to join its Dallas team. You will operate a variety of equipment on projects ranging from roadways and bridges to water infrastructure and environmental restoration.

Key responsibilities

• Operate equipment such as backhoe, loader, scraper, excavator, water truck, mechanized broom, skid steer, compactor, dozer, and motor grader.
• Maintain three points of contact on all equipment at all times.
• Follow signals and directions from crew members and coordinate work accordingly.
• Conduct daily walk‑around checks, complete checklists, and report needed repairs.
• Attend daily safety meetings and adhere to all safety policies, site rules, and traffic laws.
• Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and inspections of assigned equipment.
• When not operating equipment, fulfill general laborer duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience operating a diverse range of heavy equipment.
• Physical strength and endurance to lift heavy materials and work in extreme weather.
• Ability to work in a high‑stress environment and follow safety protocols.

Required skills

• Operation of backhoe, loader, scraper, excavator, water truck, mechanized broom, skid steer, compactor, dozer, motor grader.
• Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
