Scientist II, Delivery for Large Gene Insertion

About the role

Profluent is seeking a highly motivated Scientist II to join its Platform Discovery team. The role will lead efforts to overcome fundamental challenges in non‑viral delivery of DNA templates for recombinase‑based large gene insertion, expanding the company’s gene‑editing toolbox and creating new therapeutic opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development, evaluation, and benchmarking of innovative non‑viral methods for nucleic‑acid donor template delivery.
• Design and execute hypothesis‑driven experiments to address donor template stability, intracellular trafficking, and nuclear availability.
• Develop quantitative assays linking delivery metrics to insertion efficiency and fidelity.
• Analyze data to drive go/no‑go decisions and present findings to cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Collaborate with translational teams to validate approaches in therapeutically relevant cell‑based and in‑vivo systems.

Required profile

• PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering or related field with 2‑4 years of experience.
• Proven track record solving challenging problems in gene editing, in‑vivo delivery, or protein engineering.
• Experience developing mechanistic cell‑based assays and troubleshooting complex biological systems.
• Deep understanding of nucleic‑acid delivery barriers in mammalian cells and therapeutic contexts.
• Strong communication skills for presenting complex ideas and results.
