Science Coach / AIS Teacher for High Schools

About the role

The Buffalo Public Schools are seeking a qualified Science Coach/AIS Teacher to support students and teachers at PS 302 Emerson School of Hospitality and PS 305 McKinley High School. The role combines classroom instruction with targeted intervention and professional development for staff.

Key responsibilities

• Teach AIS (Academic Intervention Services) science classes.
• Pull small groups of students for focused instruction and interventions.
• Guide teachers and administrators in implementing district science programs and the New York State Science Learning Standards.
• Assist with lesson planning, co‑teaching, and modeling effective instructional strategies.
• Design and deliver professional development on science curriculum, instructional technology, and assessment tools.
• Support teachers in analyzing student data, developing action plans, and monitoring progress.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of approved teaching experience.
• New York State certification in Science – Biology (dual certification in Biology and Earth Science preferred).
• Thorough knowledge of the New York State Science Learning Standards.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to provide adult professional development and classroom support.
• Proficiency in the use of educational technology.
