Sander, Buff & Polish Operator

About the role

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is looking for a Sander, Buff & Polish operator to join its manufacturing team in Corona. The role covers sanding, processing and fitting of raw wood parts, and finishing guitar bodies or necks by hand and/or machine to a polished appearance as the final step of the guitar. It also involves repairs, inspection before final acceptance and following the final process.

Key responsibilities

• Sand parts to specific detailed requirements
• Follow instructions given by the supervisor
• Ensure your own production meets quality and schedule requirements
• Inspect input and output quality on every unit processed
• Follow approved procedures to complete assigned tasks
• Maintain a clean, repaired and organized work area
• Handle and store regulated materials in line with company policy, state and federal regulations and material safety data sheets
• Perform repairs, inspect before final acceptance and carry out the final process
• Additional duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Good communication and teamwork
• Commitment to safety
• Good hand dexterity
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions
• Ability to follow safety rules and wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, on the factory floor
• Guitar or musical background preferred but not required

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of the correct use of hand power tools
• Hand sanding, buffing and polishing of wood parts
