Sample Prep Scientist

About the role

IQVIA Laboratories in Ithaca, NY is seeking a Sample Prep Scientist. The role prepares biological samples, solutions and reagents for subsequent analysis in a regulated environment, and supports process improvements, training of junior staff, troubleshooting and automation initiatives that improve quality, efficiency and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Execute laboratory techniques to prepare biological samples for analytical testing
• Perform extractions, tissue preparation, purification and other sample preparation activities according to established procedures
• Train and mentor junior laboratory staff in assigned technical areas
• Troubleshoot laboratory processes and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Document testing activities in line with SOPs, GLP requirements and regulatory guidelines
• Support laboratory automation and workflow optimization
• Maintain equipment, inventory and housekeeping to 6S standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• 2 years of experience in a regulated laboratory environment
• Other equivalent education, training and experience may be accepted instead of a degree

Required skills

• Pipetting proficiency and complex laboratory calculations involving batches and specimens
• Knowledge of Hamilton Robotics liquid handling systems
• Strong technical knowledge of complex testing procedures and scientific principles
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and resolve process issues
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

What we offer

• Base pay range of $46,200 to $96,200 per year, depending on qualifications, location and schedule
