Associate Principal Scientist, LCMS Assay Development

About the role

IQVIA Laboratories in Ithaca, NY is hiring two Associate Principal Scientists for Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) Assay Development. The role develops rugged and challenging bioanalytical methods, supports method hand-off and troubleshoots complex assay challenges, strengthening small and large molecule analysis through advanced extraction, chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Develop reliable extraction, chromatographic and mass spectrometric analysis procedures for highly challenging and complex methods
• Document all project work according to Assay Development processes and procedures
• Communicate progress and status to the Director of Assay Development and Project Management as necessary
• Present method development results at Prevalidation Committee Meetings
• Interact independently with Project Management and clients to give project status updates
• Guide Wet Lab staff through clear instructions and communicate clearly
• Provide clear method documentation to Project Management and support analytical staff during method hand-off
• Contribute to conference presentations and publications under PK/PD and biomarker analysis

Required profile

• Master's degree with 6-8 years' experience, or Ph.D. with 2-5 years' experience (industry experience preferred)
• Other equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be accepted

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of LCMS theory and biologic sample preparation
• High-resolution mass spectrometry (Thermo Orbitraps, Exploris, Excedions) and triple quadrupole systems (Sciex 6500, 6500 plus, 7500 plus)
• Regulated bioanalysis, method development, LBA, proteomics sample preparation and automation
• Hands-on clinical biomarker analysis
• Ability to develop and present organized Prevalidation Committee Meeting presentations

The potential base pay range is $83,000 to $173,000 per year, depending on qualifications, location and schedule; additional compensation may include incentives, bonuses and benefits.
