Safety Manager (OSHA 500 Certified)

About the role

We are seeking a driven Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives across heavy civil construction projects. This field‑focused role spends about 70% of the time on‑site supporting project teams and 30% in the office handling administrative duties.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage company‑wide safety programs and compliance efforts.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across active projects.
• Deliver engaging safety training, orientations, and toolbox talks.
• Partner with project teams to ensure safe and efficient execution.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Oversee subcontractor safety compliance and job‑specific safety plans.

Required profile

• OSHA 500 Certification (required).
• Experience in heavy civil construction, preferably roadway/highway; airport work is a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team‑training abilities.
• Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.

Required skills

• OSHA 500 Certification.

• Competent Person for Confined Spaces.
• Experience with OCIP and CCIP programs.
• Workers’ compensation insurance and claims management.
• Experience managing EMR (Experience Modification Rate).
• Traffic control planning and familiarity with DOT/Federal entities.
• Proficiency with Office 365, OneDrive, DropBox, SiteDocs.
