RN Transfer Center Supervisor - Full Time Nights

About the role

The RN Transfer Center Supervisor at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is a full-time, night-shift position (36 hours per week) working on site. The supervisor coordinates complex, high-acuity patient transfers, admissions and inter-hospital movements, using clinical judgment to match patients to the right department, unit, level of care, trauma center or pediatric hospital. The role works closely with physicians, nursing leadership, Social Work, Case Management, Emergency Department staff and Surgical Services.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate placement of high-acuity patients needing critical care, trauma care or pediatric care, and ensure efficient placement for direct admissions, ED admissions, inter-hospital transfers, post-operative and intrahospital transfers.
• Facilitate admission and transfer processes for the Transfer Center, Emergency Department and Surgical Services.
• Oversee and support the Staffing Coordinator and Patient Registrar, including annual evaluations.
• Communicate with physicians and outlying facilities about patient condition, placement needs and available resources.
• Evaluate patient needs and escalate unresolved placement issues through the chain of command.
• Maintain accurate records of transfers, admissions and placement decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Two or more years of nursing experience and two or more years of leadership experience.
• Critical Care or Emergency Department experience preferred; Case Management experience preferred.
• Registered Nurse license required; Basic Life Support/CPR certification required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in nursing computer applications and Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Strong clinical judgment, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
