RN – Digestive Disease General Surgery

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Main Campus seeks a Registered Nurse to join the H71 Digestive Disease General Surgery unit. You will provide peri‑operative nursing care for adult and pediatric patients undergoing complex abdominal procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care before, during and after surgical or invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub duties, including selecting, handling and passing instruments and supplies.
• Execute circulating functions such as monitoring patient status, documenting conditions and coordinating overall nursing care.
• Assist the operating physician with tasks like hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.
• Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments and equipment for each case.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• For moderate/procedural sedation, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire.
• Internal applicants: at least 1 year of recent related clinical experience; external applicants: at least 2 years.

Required skills

• Proficiency in scrub and circulating nursing functions.
• Ability to handle and lift patients and equipment as described in physical requirements.
• Knowledge of standard precautions and use of personal protective equipment.
