Retail Product & Pricing Specialist

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Retail Product & Pricing Specialist in its Grocery department in Carroll. The role keeps department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance and profitability, ensures products are available in a timely way and keeps item parameters accurate in the product management software. It reports to the District Store Director, Store Manager and Assistant Managers of HWH, Perishables, Store Operations and eCommerce.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain department standards for customer service, cleanliness, sanitation and profitability, and set a friendly, efficient example for customers and colleagues.
• Use product management software to minimize out-of-stocks, keep item parameters and signage correct, and edit and transmit replenishment and ad orders.
• Pricing: ensure advertised, EDLP and RDA items are priced and signed correctly, order enough quantity, maintain special buys, and complete price and product information changes promptly.
• Inventory: keep inventory information accurate for monthly counts, verify inventory and pricing per policy, reduce obsolete and discontinued stock, monitor excess and damage/unsaleable goods, and work with vendors to check and balance invoices.
• Work with management on gross profit analysis, product placement for new items, and replenishment orders.
• Follow company policies on hygiene, dress and punctuality, and handle confidential information such as inventory, costs and margins.

Required profile

• High school or equivalent education; strong basic math skills.
• Over six months to one year of similar or related experience.
• Ability to solve practical problems, interpret instructions, do arithmetic with fractions, decimals and percentages, and communicate with customers, suppliers and the public.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, with normal vision, depth perception and color vision.
