Retail Manager – Hardlines

About the role

The Retail Manager – Hardlines oversees one or more sales departments within a store, ensuring attractive merchandise presentation, accurate inventory control, and excellent customer service. The role drives sales performance, manages staff, and maintains store standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support world‑class customer service and create a pleasant shopping experience.
• Meet or exceed financial targets and execute company sales plans.
• Open and close the store, assuming “Manager on Duty” duties.
• Maintain planograms as defined by corporate.
• Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate associates; handle performance appraisals and promotions.
• Resolve customer and associate issues promptly.
• Promote programs such as club membership, VOC, and in‑store pickup.

Required profile

• Minimum 3‑5 years of retail management experience with responsibility for one or more sales departments.
• Strong analytical ability to calculate discounts, commissions, and percentages.
• Proven problem‑solving skills and ability to interpret financial, legal, and technical information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PC‑based word processing and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Experience using electronic point‑of‑sale (POS) systems.
• Familiarity with inventory management software.
