Resident Director (Live-in)

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is seeking a full‑time, live‑in Resident Director to lead one of its residence halls. Reporting to the Associate Director of Residence Life, the RD will oversee daily operations, support student development, and ensure a safe, vibrant community for 150‑400 residents.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the residence hall, including building maintenance and safety.
• Supervise and develop a team of 5‑9 Resident Assistants, Graduate Assistants and Student Assistants.
• Provide counseling, discipline, and academic support to residents.
• Plan and implement residential education programs and community‑building activities.
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation, including evenings and weekends.
• Collaborate weekly with the Associate Director of Residence Life on policy enforcement and strategic initiatives.
• Assist with summer housing planning and support campus‑wide events.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience supervising student staff in a residential setting.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Commitment to living on‑site and being available for emergencies.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
