Research Technician – Evolutionary Medicine Lab

About the role

The Evolutionary Medicine Research Lab at Texas A&M University seeks a Research Technician to provide entry‑level technical support. This part‑time position involves managing the inventory of genomic samples stored in multiple freezers and may require work beyond normal office hours.

Key responsibilities

• Take inventory of genomic samples across six –80°C freezers and three –20°C freezers.
• Maintain accurate records of sample locations and quantities.
• Assist laboratory staff with sample handling and organization.
• Support occasional weekend or extended‑hour tasks as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; combination of education and experience acceptable.
• At least two years of related experience in a laboratory or inventory setting.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Grant‑funded position; future employment depends on continued funding.
