Research Specialist 3 – Pediatric Stroke Project

About the role

The Center for Brain Plasticity and Recovery at Georgetown University Medical Center is seeking a full‑time Research Specialist 3 to join the Pediatric Stroke Project. This project investigates long‑term language and cognitive outcomes after childhood stroke using neuropsychological testing and advanced MRI techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and recruit eligible pediatric stroke participants from two major children’s hospitals.
• Coordinate and schedule three‑day on‑site visits for participant families.
• Conduct neuropsychological assessments, behavioral testing, and functional/structural MRI scans.
• Read and evaluate medical records to confirm eligibility.
• Analyze behavioral and imaging data and prepare results for publication.
• Collaborate with senior research staff, faculty, and external sites in Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia.

Required profile

• Experience working with pediatric or neurological research participants.
• Ability to operate with minimal supervision and manage multiple study tasks.
• Strong organizational and communication skills for interacting with families and research teams.

Required skills

• MRI (functional and structural) operation and data handling.
• Behavioral and neuropsychological testing procedures.
• Data analysis for behavioral and fMRI datasets.
