Research Specialist 2 – Thrive Center for Children, Families & Communities

About the role

The Thrive Center at Georgetown University seeks a Research Specialist 2 to support rigorous evaluation of community‑based interventions aimed at improving whole‑family mental health. The role blends quantitative and qualitative methods, data management, and scholarly communication within a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Implement mixed‑methods evaluation protocols for community projects.
• Collect, code, and analyze qualitative data; supervise data collection teams.
• Maintain project databases, manage participant incentives, and ensure data integrity.
• Support the Principal Investigator and Co‑Investigators in data analysis, report writing, and scientific presentations.
• Conduct literature searches, synthesize findings, and contribute to grant‑related documentation.
• Organize and convene meetings with internal staff, faculty, and external partners.
• Perform general administrative and office tasks related to research activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 3‑5 years of relevant research or evaluation experience (Master’s preferred).
• Demonstrated ability to work with both quantitative and qualitative data.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and meticulous organizational abilities.
• Experience maintaining research libraries or resource catalogues.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data handling.
• Experience using Atlas.ti (or similar) for qualitative coding and analysis.
