Research Security Specialist – Compliance Officer

About the role

The Texas A&M University System Office is seeking a Research Security Specialist to monitor and facilitate compliance with federal, state, and system research security regulations. This position works under general direction to ensure ethical conduct and adherence to all applicable laws, policies, and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining a comprehensive compliance program for research security.
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and TAMU System regulatory standards.
• Identify compliance vulnerabilities and create corrective action plans.
• Recommend and update program guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Support research security training and respond to subject‑matter expert review requests.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Compliance Officer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum three years of related experience in compliance or research security.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and experience in a complex, system‑level organization.
