Research Program Associate I

About the role

The Biology Department at Texas A&M University seeks a Research Program Associate I to support ongoing research programs by supplying, maintaining, and organizing laboratory equipment and resources. The role involves preparing materials, assisting with lab operations, and training teaching assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Support daily laboratory operations, including staff support, quality control, equipment maintenance, and software administration.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and best practices.
• Coordinate research activities: schedule sessions, set up experiments, develop protocols, and collaborate with researchers and IT support.
• Assist with experiments, data collection, recordkeeping, analysis, and documentation of findings.
• Train students and teaching assistants on laboratory protocols, procedures, and equipment use.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; three years of experience in a research lab or office setting.
• Master’s degree in Biology or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• At least one year of experience in a research or laboratory setting, preferably with mechanical engineering research in a biological lab.
• Familiarity with routine laboratory procedures, safety regulations, and equipment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with software tools for data analysis and scientific computing.
