Research & Development Co‑Op – Spring 2027 (St. Louis)

About the role

Join Mastercard Foundry’s global R&D team as a Spring 2027 Co‑Op, working on cutting‑edge technologies that shape the future of payments. You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists and product innovators at the St. Louis Tech Hub in O’Fallon, MO.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy high‑quality software solutions using modern engineering practices.
• Build proof‑of‑concepts and prototypes focused on emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing and data platforms.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from ideation to operational support.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Product, Experience Design and Research.
• Present technical findings, demos and project outcomes to engineering and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or accelerated master’s program at Washington University in St. Louis, majoring in engineering, data science or a related field.
• Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
• Eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with experience debugging code.

Required skills

• Algorithms and data structures.
• Artificial intelligence / Agentic AI concepts.
• Automated testing frameworks.
• Source‑control management (e.g., Git).
• Debugging tools such as stack traces, memory profiling and code tracing.

What we offer

• Hourly compensation of $34 / hour.
