Research Associate 2 – Laboratory Research

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Dermatology seeks a full‑time Research Associate 2 to support cutting‑edge research on wound healing, infection, and skin biology. The role involves performing complex experiments, handling specimens, and contributing to publications under senior staff supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Perform specialized molecular and cell biology experiments, including RNA/DNA isolation, cloning, qPCR, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry.
• Handle and process human and animal tissue samples, operate sensitive laboratory equipment, and manage animal anesthesia for studies.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data; prepare specimens for photography and dark‑room processing.
• Assist with writing extramural proposals, presenting findings at Grand Rounds, Research Day, and lab meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum of 2 years of laboratory research experience.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve problems and exercise sound judgment.
