Research Associate 2 – Infectious Diseases

About the role

The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Miami seeks a full‑time Research Associate 2 to support ongoing infectious‑disease research on the UHealth campus. The role involves conducting complex laboratory experiments, managing study participants, and contributing to scientific publications under senior staff supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Perform specialized and complex laboratory experiments, including specimen and tissue‑culture processing.
• Weigh, anesthetize, and handle laboratory animals for experimental protocols.
• Operate sensitive, high‑complexity laboratory equipment and conduct photographic documentation.
• Recruit, consent, and schedule eligible study participants, ensuring compliance with IRB procedures.
• Collect, process, and track clinical and behavioral data, maintaining accurate source documentation.
• Assist with grant writing, data analysis, and preparation of research manuscripts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Experience with laboratory animal handling and tissue‑culture techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for participant interaction and documentation.
