Research Associate 2 – ECHO

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Research Associate 2 to support the ECHO program. Working under senior staff, you will conduct complex laboratory experiments, manage participant recruitment, and contribute to scientific publications.

Key responsibilities

• Perform specialized and complex laboratory experiments, including specimen and tissue culture analysis.
• Weigh, anesthetize, and handle laboratory animals for experimental procedures.
• Operate sensitive, high‑complexity laboratory equipment and conduct related calculations.
• Collect, prepare, and analyze biospecimens such as saliva and blood during participant visits.
• Recruit study participants across multiple sites, conduct home‑visit or online data collection, and maintain accurate records.
• Prepare extramural proposals and assist in manuscript preparation for publication.
• Provide training to new Research Associate I staff in recruitment and laboratory procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant research experience.
• Strong ability to collect, organize, and analyze data.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and sound judgment for critical decisions.
• Reliable transportation for travel to study sites.
• Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish or English/Creole.
